Why Project Managers Can’t Manage Projects

In honor of International Project Manager Day, David wrote the above essay answering the age-old confusion, Why project managers can’t manage projects. Wow! Hal Macomber picked it up and posted a link on his Reforming Project Management blog. Lou Russell included a link in her November Learning Flash.
We sent the essay out to the community, and received a flood of positive (and even a couple of not-so-positive) responses. The result, really feeling connected to a community here.

Pure Schmaltz

David finally has the Pure Schmaltz blog to the point where it’s no longer a prototype. As he says on the introductory page, “Responding to many requests to create a Blog presence, I intend this weblog to contain selected chunks of my most succulent work. ... When I find a goose, I'll render the fat and display it here.” Syndicate using RSS or just check in occasionally -- to see what David has been rendering lately.

Community Involvement

Governor Christine Gregoire appointed Amy to serve as a board member of the Washington State Economic Development Finance Authority (WEDFA)

Also, Amy was selected to serve on the City of Walla Walla’s Citizen’s Oversight Steering Committee for the current Comprehensive Plan development cycle. Expect some stories of creating community at the community level out of her civic involvements.
